Weather/Emergency Policy

Our spectators and participants’ safety is our primary concern. We will closely monitor the weather forecast for race weekend, but due to rapidly changing weather conditions, we may not be able to make any decision regarding the race until Saturday morning.

Below are the steps we will follow if the threat of bad weather occurs prior to 8:30 a.m. race start:

The event will occur rain or shine, but below are the steps if there is a risk of thundershowers or accumulating snow showers:

  1. If there is a threat and/or we are having thunderstorms or snow showers at 8:15am on race morning, the race start will be delayed until 9:00am to allow the threat to pass.
  2. Should the threat remain at 9:00am, the Girls on the Run 5K will be cancelled.  Unfortunately, no refunds will be able to be given due to weather crisis situations.

Should a storm come about while the runners are out on the race course, they should all seek coverage along the race course. Once the storm has passed, runners should return directly to the race start/finish line.

The Belmont Police Department will be on site and along the race course to coordinate efforts in an emergency should arise.
